What The Hell is No Code? Should You Even Care?
"If I want to develop software, I need to know to code :(”. Well, not anymore… “Why?” Because literally, ANYONE can build! “But…how??” To answer that, we will need to get into the world of No Code!
What is No Code?
As discussed in our previous edition (if you haven’t read it yet, what are you waiting for?? Read it here!), No Code is any platform used to build apps or perform tasks without coding.
Let’s understand this better -
Till the 1970s, one couldn’t even have used a digital device or computer without coding.
Today, we take things for granted and text, call, and even use social media without any coding.
But what’s more interesting is the fact that because of No Code, we can build apps, websites, and other interactive tools without writing a single piece of code.
These No Code platforms usually come in drag-and-drop interfaces where you can use pre-built elements and templates to just drag, drop, and customize according to your use case just like this -
Some of these popular No Code platforms include:
Bubble: Bubble allows you to build web applications with complex functionality without writing code.
WebFlow: WebFlow offers visually stunning and responsive web design with a powerful CMS (Content Management System).
WIX: WIX provides an all-in-one platform for creating websites with ease, including e-commerce capabilities.
Zapier: Zapier automates workflows by connecting various apps and services, streamlining processes without coding.
Notion: Notion is an all-in-one workspace with a flexible structure, making it ideal for note-taking, project management, and collaboration.
Airtable: Airtable combines the simplicity of a spreadsheet with the complexity of a database, making data management and collaboration accessible.
Pabbly Connect: Pabbly Connect is an automation tool and an alternative to Zapier that helps businesses connect and automate their workflows across 1000+ apps.
We will talk about each in detail in our subsequent editions :)
But, what does that mean to you? How will it affect you or your work?
Why Should You Care Anyways?
If you are a non-technical person/non-engineer or even a new founder with limited capital, No Code has the potential to change your life.
Here’s why -
Simplifies prototyping: No Code platforms make it easy to create and test prototypes without writing any code. This can help you save time and money, and get your ideas to market faster.
Fewer dependencies: These platforms rely on pre-built components, so you don't have to worry about finding and installing third-party libraries. This can save you time and hassle, and make it easier to maintain your applications.
Easy autonomy: Using No Code platforms gives you the power to build and deploy applications without having to rely on developers. This can give you more control over your projects, and make it easier to get things done.
Launch quickly: No Code can help you launch your applications faster than traditional development methods giving you a competitive edge in the marketplace - beat your competition by launching quickly!
Easy to maintain: Unlike Code, No Code is easy to maintain and in many cases, owners can avoid hiring experts to maintain the platform. Someone who knows even the basics will be able to maintain these platforms, eventually learning and mastering them without too many risks (unlike production-pushed code that is bound to break otherwise).
If these don’t convince you, probably this will -
A report by Statista says that 60% of organizations using no-code platforms reported an increase in revenue. This shows that no-code platforms can help businesses generate more revenue and improve efficiency.
💡Pro-Tip: There’s a rise in another field/role because of No Code. Yes, the No Code developer!
However, if you are an engineer… you might start contemplating your job.
Just kidding! No Code platforms are here but who is going to build those platforms? More on this coming later ;)
